Once in a week Universpain teachers go out with their students to several bars in Salamanca to taste the "pinchos" (appetizers) and wines from the different regions of the country.

Bars in Salamanca are places where people gather to chat, meet friends, have drinks, eat ‘tapas’ or simply to while away the time. Spaniards choose bars like their first option to spend the leisure time.

Going to a ‘tapas’ bar is a typically Spanish activity. During decades the custom has consist in going to a bar to take a glass of draught and some appetizer, denominated ‘tapa’. Nowadays this tradition goes on as popular as decades ago.

Around mid-morning or in the evening, many people take a coffee, a soft drink or a draft beer accompanied by an appetizer, for example a Spanish omelette one. Bars are a meeting place where many old people, families or youngsters chat around the table or standing up. In Salamanca bars, people usually drink without excess, alternating drinks with food.

This is a funny way of knowing the way of life and local customs in Spain. Once you have tried this initiative, we are sure you will repeat the experience.
